Competition rules

overview

  • The event is held in a super fight style with competitors engaging in a single match per event, unless the competitor and the organization agree to a different format. 
  • The competitive area is 32 x 32 feet with no cage or additional barrier. 
  • If competitors go out of the competition area while standing and seeking a takedown, they will be brought back to the center of the match and the match will restart in the standing position. If one of the competitors has single or double grips on the body, they shall be allowed to restart the match in the same position. 
  • If the competitors go out of the competitive area while one of them has a submission locked in, the competitors will be allowed to continue to pursue the submission and or defend the submission off the mat as long as their safety can be assured. The decision to stop the action and to instruct the competitor to release the submission shall be made by the center referee. 
  • No slippery substances are allowed on the body or the clothing of the competitor. Violation will result in removal from the event and forfeit of any payment owed to the competitor.

  • Decisions will be based on aggressiveness, submission attempts and overall control. For a submission to be considered as a legitimate attempt, the athlete who is in the defensive position shall be forced to stop all forward movement and be fully engaged in having to defend the submission.

  • The head referee has the full authority to stop the match if they feel the athlete is in danger and is not able to defend themselves. 

Time Limits

  • All matches are automatically set for 5 minutes.
  • Title matches are 8 minutes.
